LNS, partner of the European Pandemic Preparedness Project BE READY
Ready for future health crisis
The project “Building a European strategic Research and Innovation Area in Direct Synergy with EU and International Initiatives for Pandemic Preparedness” (BE READY) was launched as part of the EU-HORIZON programme. The key objective of BE READY is to lay the groundwork for future European partnerships for Pandemic Preparedness. Indeed, the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that pandemic preparedness could be improved for both Europe and the rest of the world.
A European collaboration for Pandemic Preparedness
BE READY started in June 2022 and will last for 36 months. The project’s Coordination and Support Action (CSA) currently counts the participation of 24 organisations from 15 countries bringing together experts from Public Health Organisations, Ministries and Research Organisation. To address upcoming public health crises, the CSA aims to create a European partnership for pandemic preparedness, a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) and a Pandemic Preparedness and Response Observatory. Overall, the main objective of the future European partnership is to create a strategy to better coordinate research and innovation at EU and national level to improve preparedness and mitigation measures for future health emergencies, contributing thus to a stronger Europe.
LNS as Work Package Leader for Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication
The role of the LNS Microbiology Department in this project is to ensure effective communication along the project and to raise awareness of the importance of pandemic preparedness. The idea is to maximize the visibility of BE READY and its activities among target audiences by ensuring dissemination of its outcome via social media, the website, flyers and by organizing workshops.

This project will contribute significantly to ensure that we do not face the same circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic again. I am very happy to see the commitment of our team and the other member states to build synergies in order to BE READY for next time.
