Main achievements in 2021
- Participation in the RAFA conference on 3-4 November 3.
- Signature of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) followed by a visit of the infrastructures and equipment of the Laboratory of Veterinary Medicine (LMVE) and of our food monitoring service of the Department of Health Protection both located on the same site in Dudelange.
- The year 2021 was marked by the fact that the head of service, Dr. Gilbert Moris, retired in October, which implied changes in the administrative management and technical responsibilities of the laboratory. Dr. Claude Schummer became head of service and Catarina Martins took over the technical functions in microbiology and GMOs.
- The laboratory renewed its collaboration with the “Landesamt für Verbraucherschutz” of Saarbrücken in the presence of the Minister of Health and Consumer Protection, Paulette Lenert, the Minister of Agriculture, Romain Schneider, and the Minister of Consumer Protection of the Saarland, Reinhold Jost.
- In terms of microbiological analyses, the health crisis had a slight downward impact on the number of samples analysed in 2020, but this decline was made up for in 2021.
- Accreditation of GMO detection methods for transgenic maize MON 87403, MON 87411, MZHGOJG and MZIR 098 as well as for transgenic soybean MON 87751.
Main achievements in 2021
- On April 28th, on the occasion of World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we conducted an interview with Dr. sc Radu Duca, in charge of the Environmental Hygiene and Human Biological Monitoring service, about Occupational safety and health (OSH).
- CHEM, in collaboration with the LNS Department of Health Protection and the University of Luxembourg, invited all Luxembourg actors active in the field of Environmental Medicine, as well as many international experts, to the first international workshop in Luxembourg dedicated to this topic.
